Curriculum

Supportive teaching is available to help pupils with special needs, while extension groups exist to stretch the most able.

Examinations take place once a year for the younger children and twice a year for Years 5 to 8. Mid-term assessments in all subjects keep parents informed about progress and effort in Upper School. Regular written reports are sent to parents and staff are always available to discuss each pupil's progress.

Belmont pupils are taught all the subjects of the National Curriculum. All pupils study French, and Latin or Classical Studies are introduced in Year 6.

In Year 6 the National Curriculum tests are taken in English, Maths and Science. Whilst we expect all children to achieve Level 4, over half of them achieve Level 5, and some reach Level 6.
