Friends of Belmont
Friends of Belmont known as the FOB, is the school's parents' association and all parents with children at the school are members. The FOB plans various social and fund raising events throughout the school year, providing opportunities for parents, children and staff to meet informally. Funds raised by the FOB are used to provide extra facilities for the children at the school and also to support various local charities.
Over the past few years FOB donations to the school have funded, or assisted with the funding of, the adventure playground and the play area near the Jubilee Building, spectator benches on the sports field, a movable stage for use by the children at their concerts and theatrical events, a stained glass window in the chapel to celebrate its 75th anniversary, tiered seating in the Jubilee Hall to give parents a better view of school productions and stage lighting. Our most recent donation funded the purchase of a projector and other technical equipment for use in school productions.
Historically, charitable donations have been made to both the children's ward and the special care baby unit at Barnet General Hospital, to Noah's Ark Children's Hospice, and to the North London Hospice. More recently donations have been made to Sense, who care for children with deafblindness, and to TreeHouse Trust, in Muswell Hill, which provides an educational centre of excellence for children with autism. At the end of the 2008/9 school year we made a donation to Hearts of Oak, the Foundation Trust of Oak Lodge School, which caters for children aged 11-19 years who have learning disabilities.
