Prep

All pupils have sketchbooks. These are used for planning, preliminary studies and research - an ongoing body of reference. Much of this work takes place out of lesson time and is 'homework'. It does not occur on specific days but where and when it is required.

Visits

Years 6, 7 and 8 have yearly trips appropriate to the themes and projects they are engaged upon. They will visit Tate Britain, Tate Modern and the National Gallery.

Curriculum Enrichment for Gifted and Talented Pupils in Art

At the end of Year 7 potential scholars are identified and follow a more demanding programme in extra classes. Before that pupils who exhibit a real talent for the subject are shown how to extend their ideas and explore them in greater depth through individual discussion. They may be encouraged to express their idea in another medium or to study artists who have been interested in the same problem. The extended work will be tailored to meet the individual's need.
