Academic

Library

The Library is accessible and open to all members of the school. It is open daily from 8.15 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., including morning break and lunch time. It offers a welcoming, attractive and comfortable environment for pupils to come and work or relax with a book or a newspaper and is staffed by a professional librarian to help and encourage pupils.

There is a wide range of fiction and information books. Items may be borrowed for both academic and recreational needs. Computers are also available, enabling pupils to access the school's intranet and search the library database.

The current book stock numbers about 8,000 and is constantly developing and being updated to meet the changing needs of the curriculum and pupils' recreational reading needs. The fiction stock covers all reading ages in the school, and a wide range of tastes and abilities. Information books are available on all curriculum and general and recreational subjects.

Pupils in Years 3 and 4 have a timetabled Library and Information Skills lesson every week. Years 5, 6, 7 and 8, after induction sessions, utilise the resources on both an individual and class basis for research and recreational reading.
